New Alexa Bourne e-book coming soon!

If you love all things Scottish, as I do, you’ll love Carry Me Home, Alexa Bourne‘s new Tease (a short read) from Decadent Publishing. It’s rare that a book actually brings me to tears and even more rare that I can both laugh and cry in the same book, but this deeply moving story of a couple on the verge of ending their marriage did just that. Mary MacDougall returns to Glenhalish, her hometown, with divorce papers in hand and determined to get Jamie, her brawny, red-haired Scot to sign them. Even though the sight of him awakens powerful feelings and his touch…well, she’s convinced that their marriage is over, and she wants to be done with it and get on with her new start in Edinburgh. But Jamie, stubborn man that he is, refuses to let go of the love of his life and begs for a weekend to prove that they can work things out. Can he prove that he can change? Can they overcome the pain of the past and rekindle their soul-deep love for each other?

This is a must read!

Winner Quick and Dirty Cover Contest: Lynn Cahoon!

CONGRATULATIONS, LYNN CAHOON!

I put all the names of those who responded into a bowl and drew the winner. I’ve never met met Lynn, but I went to her website and discovered a very interesting person who is also a writer. <http://lynncahoon.wordpress.com/> (Lynn, let me know the format you prefer.)

As I mentioned, I may not be using any of the suggestions of the winner for the final cover, but as it happens, I’m planning to use a consensus of everybody who offered opinions. Thanks to all those who took time from busy days to help me out!.You’re all sweethearts. I’ll be publishing CALL ME SIN on Kindle, Nook, and Smashwords (for the other various venues) this week.

Look for it.

Quick Cover Contest!

HURRY! CALL ME SIN COVER CONTEST CLOSES SATURDAY, FEB. 23 AT 1:00 pm CENTRAL TIME.

This is the cover for the first book in The Berringer Brothers trilogy.

I’ve fallen in love with designing covers. Many years ago I used to do artsy-crafty stuff, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I started coming up with new covers for of some of my back list for e-publishing on the various online sites.

I found a background that I absolutely loved for the cover of Call Me Sin, the second book in my Berringer Brothers trilogy. I also knew I wanted all three books to have big letters on the covers with the characters interacting with the letters. I got that last part right, but then the background I loved suddenly seemed too busy, so I experimented with a color change of some of the print, then with a totally different idea. I kind of like the notion of the old book as the background of the latest version.

In Call Me Sin, the heroine, Susan Sinclair, owns a new and used book store, and the hero, Ross Berringer, is a hunk of a Texas Ranger, dedicated but fun-loving, who has just moved into the townhouse next door. (Ross is the twin brother of Holt Berringer from Big and Bright.) When her ailing grandmother gets ripped off by her caretaker, Susan is determined to find the thieving wretch, and Ross is determined to go along and keep her out of trouble. Guess how that works out? The story is a humorous romance with love, laughter, sizzle, and enough suspense to keep things hopping.

I’m posting below three covers for you to chose from. Please leave your comments to help me make my decision, and I’ll randomly pick a winner (you don’t have to select the cover I end up using). The prize is a free e-book of Call Me Sin for your reading device when it’s published.

BOOK COVER #1 ON LEFT, #2 IN CENTER,  #3 (THE BOOK) ON THE BOTTOM BELOW. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.   (The last one is a bit fuzzy because it’s a quick mock up and not a finished cover.)   YOUR FAVORITE? WHY? PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW. MAYBE YOU THINK I SHOULD TRASH THE LOT AND GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD. THANKS FOR ANY OPINIONS!

UPDATE: BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE, BOTH FROM HERE AND PRIVATELY, ASKED FOR A LESS INTRUSIVE ROSS, I’VE MOVED HIM DOWN ON THE #1 COVER SO THAT THE TITLE IS LESS OBSTRUCTED. THIS ADDITION WILL BE #1b. BETTER?

COMING SOON!

Hi y’all! For my most recent ebooks, check out the post below (November). You’ll notice that I have two new series beginning. Both BIG AND BRIGHT (The Berringer Brothers) and SUNNY SAYS (Struck by Lightning) are the first books of trilogies.

I’ve been busy working on the cover for the second book in the Struck by Lightning series. This story, HOT STREAK, stars Sunny Larkin’s brother Neil, a biomedical researcher, who shows up on a park bench in New Orleans just outside the bakery that Amy Jordan is managing temporarily. He’s at a low spot in his life and badly in need of a sympathetic ear–and Amy is a former social worker with an enormous heart. Neil, like his sister Sunny, has some special gifts as a result of being hit by a lightning bolt as a child. He stays on to help Amy with the bakery and rebuild his life. Lots and love and laughter (and some sizzle).

What do you think of the cover? I wanted it to be in the same flavor as SUNNY SAYS. Look for it after Christmas (or maybe before) exclusively on Amazon Kindle.

JAN HUDSON

I’ve Been Busy!

Two new ebooks, both the first of a series, are now available online. Both are from my classic Bantam Loveswept backlist, revamped and updated. I hope you’ll check them out. Even if you don’t have a Kindle, Nook, Apple, Kobo, or other eReader device, you can download free apps from most of these sources and read them on your computer or some phones. (I can’t imagine reading on my iphone, but some folks do it.) Best of all, these books are a bargain for hours of enjoyment. Let me tell you about BIG AND BRIGHT and SUNNY SAYS –-and check them out on Kindle or Nook to read the first several pages to see if you like it before you buy. What a deal! They both have lots of love, laughter, and sizzle.

A romantic comedy featuring the first of three Berringer brothers (Texas Ranger Holt) and with just enough suspense to up the action. Sensual.

Cory Bright planned to stay in Austin,Texas, just long enough to dispose of the perfumery she’d inherited before she headed to California and a big time ad agency job. With her hair in home perm rollers and a terrible craving for a Moon Pie, she made a quick dash to the store down the street. Who knew that so much could happen in five minutes? There was one Moon Pie left in the box; she and a tall hunk in a white hat reached for it at the same time–and she didn’t intend to let go…until a couple of robbers burst into the store and bullets started flying. And wouldn’t you know that she was the only person who got a good look at the bad guy who escaped? And wouldn’t you know that a reporter plastered her name and gosh-awful photo on the front page of the paper for all the town–and the robber–to see? When the robber’s nasty threats came, wouldn’t you know Texas Ranger Holt Berringer (the white-hatted hunk) was determined to appoint himself Cory’s protector? Not that she minded too much. He was, after all, a real hottie. But she hadn’t counted on the chemistry between them being potent enough to blow off the roof–and a big hole in her plans.

 *    *    *

Sorry but SUNNY SAYS is only available from Amazon Kindle at this time. It’s the first of a series, Struck by Lightning. Sunny Larkin, an older brother, and her cousin were under a tree that was struck by lightning when they were kids. All of them were changed and ended up with special “gifts.” Sunny could predict the weather. . . and she was never wrong.

A different kind of bolt hit her again when, dangling out a fourth story window by a puny mini-blind cord, she looked up into the eyes of Kale Hoaglin, TV network stud and heir to KRIP, the good news station in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she worked. The minute he grabbed her hand and hauled her inside, Kale could almost smell the ozone and feel the air crackle as he pulled the fresh-faced slip of a weather reporter against him. This cute little blond was too young, too naive for a jaded correspondent whose work took him to the cesspools and battlegrounds of the world. As soon as he got this station back on track, he’d be gone.

But maybe he’d underestimated Sunny–her abilities and the power of her heart and her dreams.

The Right Moves

The Right Moves is one of my favorite books. I must have listened to a Whitesnake CD a thousand times when I was writing it. Is Whitesnake still around? I wrote this book a loooong time ago, but I’ve updated it and added this beautiful new cover. (The original cover was so bad that my editor sent me flowers and apologized.) It’s now an ebook on Kindle, Nook, Smashwords, and available for some other electronic devices. It’s funny and tender and sexy. I promise you’ll fall in love with Chris and Nick. Check it out.
